Pray the word is a common phrase, and someone may wonder why we need to pray the word? Are there no other ways to pray? I will be sharing in this short post 10 strong reasons to pray the word taking my evidence from the word of God itself.

These 10 strong reasons are based on God’s word, and that’s why I’m confident that the best way to pray is to pray God’ words back to him! I love to collect scriptural references on topical issues, and these serve as my prayer points during personal or group prayer time.

10 strong reasons to pray God's words

Below are 10 strong reasons to pray the word

  1. God values His words even above his name . This fact is reassuring when we approach prayer with that confidence that when we pray God’s words, He will hearken to us because he valued his words above His name

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

Psalm 138:2 KJV

2. God means what He says. What He says goes

Unlike us, God means every word He says. There is no slip of the tongue with God. His words are so dependable that we can literally take him at His words. Hebrews 4:12 in the Message translation says it well. Nothing and no one can resist God’s word.

God means what he says, what he says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defence, laying us open to listen and obey

Hebrews 4:12 MSSG

3. God’s word will never return without accomplishing its purpose

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Isaiah 55:11 NKJV

4. God’s words abide forever.

The grass withers, the flower fades,

But the word of our God stands forever.

Isaiah 40:8 NKJV

5. You can never pray amiss when you pray God’s words

You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.

James 4;3 NKJV

6. God will always confirm His words

The words that i speak unto you , they are spirit , and they are life

John 6:63 NKJV

7. God watches over His words to perform it

Then said the Lord unto me , Thou hast well seen : for i will hasten my word to perform it

Jeremiah 1:12 KJV

8. God cannot lie. He will always do what He has promised to do

“God is not a man, that He should lie,

Nor a son of man, that He should repent.

Has He said, and will He not do?

Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

Numbers 23:19 NKJV

9. God is so sure of His words, even if heaven and earth pass away, His words will not lose His power or fail to accomplish their purpose

Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

Matthew 24:35 NKJV

10. God’s word is yes, and Amen!

For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.

2 Corinthians 1:20 NKJV

My personal argument for praying the word

When I pray God’s words and not just my words, I find that this helps build my faith and gives me the confidence that God will answer my prayers.

Another good reason I pray God’s words is that it makes it easy for me to pray, especially at those times when I don’t even have the words to say in prayers, just quoting the verses of scriptures and reminding God of what He has promised helps me tremendously in my times of need.

Prayer works! This is a known fact; however, there are instances when we have prayed, and we haven’t really had the answers we hoped for. There are countless reasons for this, but there were also instances when we didn’t understand why and really, on this side of heaven, we may never get answers to some of our whys, but we know that God remains good and true and faithful. All our whys will be answered when we eventually see Him face to face.
